Worship & Music

There are hymns and songs that we sing ABOUT God, there are hymns and songs we sing TO God, and there are songs we sing to one another as we Sing Our Faith IN God.

How many ways are there to experience worship through music in song at FBC Cochran?

Many!

We start with the largest choir in our church....the congregation.

On Sunday morning there are two opportunities to join your voice with the voices of others as we gather at 8:30 am in the Fellowship Hall and at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary.  The largest difference between the two services is the instrumentation.  The contemporary service has a band with guitars, drums and a praise team leading in worship through song.  The traditional service has a piano, organ and a choir leading in worship through song.

The Sanctuary Choir meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 in either the choir room or sanctuary.

If you have any questions or would like to join you may contact a choir member or our office for more information.

The Handbell Choir is currently preparing for our joint Christmas Program with Mt Calvary. This is the 27th year that handbells have been in use at First Baptist Church Cochran as instruments of praise.

Quite often there are opportunities for new ringers.

If the thought of that "strikes a chord" with you please let us know.

Our contemporary Praise Team practices on Wednesday evenings at 8:00pm in the Fellowship Hall.

  • Contemporary Worship

Is the music on your phone weighted toward contemporary Christian artists?  Is your heart of worship ignited by the rhythms of drums/guitars/keyboards and singers presenting the Gospel through newer songs of faith?  If you have gifts and talents (vocal, instrumental, drama, video/audio) that mesh with a contemporary worship style and would like more info about worship leadership opportunities, contact Jeff Dykes.

  • traditional worship

Does your heart of worship resonate with the music & message of time-honored hymns that are accompanied by organ and piano; the message of a powerful anthem delivered through the voices of a choir?  There are many opportunities to serve within the traditional music ministry of our church:  choir, solo ministry, handbells, children's choir, and assisting behind the scenes with audio to name just a few. In our interim time, contact Jeff Dykes about worship leadership opportunities.
